Shells and shotgun
Doves are small and fast, so hunters often burn through several boxes of shells for a limit. Light target or field loads are the usual choice.
Comfort
A bucket or stool, water, sunscreen and bug repellent turn a hot September afternoon into a good day. Light camouflage helps hunters blend into fence lines and tree edges.
Protection
Shooting glasses and hearing protection are a must on fields with other hunters.
Decoys
Spinning-wing and clip-on decoys can pull doves in where they are legal. Some states restrict motion decoys, so check the rules.
